One Family History

The website explores the ancestors of Victor Vowles (b. 1908) and his wife Rachel Hoyland (b.1916). This takes the family across many counties of England, including: Somerset, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, West Riding of Yorkshire, Berkshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire. Their ancestors include some interesting characters whose backgrounds are as varied as the places they come from ranging from paupers to a wealthy factory owner.

The website is organised around the four main branches of the tree - Vowles, Weaver, Hoyland and Roulstone. If you share ancestors with us we would love to hear from you.
I've been researching for well over 20 years and have lots more than is on here.

I created this website as I enjoy sharing my research and am happy to help with information.
Sadly, in 2017 one person systematically went through the website and copied the entire family history including PHOTOGRAPHS and TEXT (over 10,000 words not counting names/dates/places in trees) from TWENTY FIVE PAGES which she then published on another website (the site concerned has been made aware). This person was not interested enough to make contact and did not have the courtesy to ask if I'd mind her taking everything and publishing elsewhere. Copyright laws apply online as they do in print but more important I think is just common decency and fairness.

The site concerned has taken swift action to remove the photos and text that were taken from here, showing how seriously they take infringement of copyright. They have a Content Submission Agreement requiring submitters to confirm that they have the legal right to the content being uploaded to the site. She must have agreed to this.
