Transcript of the Will of John Boler 1762 - 1841
In the name of God Amen - I John Boler of Glapwell in the Parish of Bolsover, in the County of Derby, Farmer, being of sound Mind and perfect understanding and Memory, thanks be given unto God, but very sick; therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body, and the uncertainty of Life, and knowing it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, That is to say principally and first of all, I give and commend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it, and my Body, I commend to the Earth, to be buried in decent christian burial, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give, devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First. I do hereby make and ordain my much beloved Wife Hannah Boler, my Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament.
Secondly. I do hereby leave and bequeath all my Property and every thing I am possessed of to my much beloved Wife, Hannah Boler which Property consists of all singular my Household Goods, Linen, Chattles, Effects, Cattle, and all my Husbandry Implements, and all I am possessed of. And likewise, I do further order and desire, that my said beloved Wife, Hannah Boler, shall pay and discharge all my just Debts, Will proved, and Funeral Expenses. Also, I do hereby declare, ratify, and confirm this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal, this Sixth Day of March, in the year of our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred, and Forty One.
