Transcript of the Will of John Wells 1691 - 1773
This is the last Will and testament of me John Wells of Southsomercotes in
the County of Lincoln yeoman who am of good Health in Body and of sound and
disposing mind and memory. Impr: I give and bequeath to my Son William Wells
& to his Wife and Family fifty shillings a year to be paid in a fat swine
hog about Christmas time for eight years after my Decease for & towards his
& their use support & Maintenance. I give and bequeath to my Daughter
Mary Portas five pounds to be paid her respectively twelve months after my
Decease. I give and bequeath to each and every one of my Grandchildren that is
to say Jinny Hutton, Elizabeth Hutton, Mary Hutton, Frances Hutton and Mary
Portas. John Wells, Mary Wells, Alice Wells, Ann Wells, Susanna Wells, Frances
Wells, Elizabeth Wells and Dorothy Wells. William Willows, Thomas Willows,
George Willows, Susanna Willows, Green Willows, Frances Willows and Edward
Willows. Susanna Wells and Mary Baumber. Samuel Wells ???? Welch. five pounds to
be paid them at their several Accomplishment of the Age of twenty one years. And
the Portion of such of them as shall happen to decease before the said age shall
go to my Executor herein after named. All the Rest & residue of my Goods
Chattels & personal Estate, I give & bequeath to my Son Thomas Wells
paying the said Legacies thereout and I make him my said son Thomas Wells sole
Executor hereof and do hereby revoke & declare null & void all former
Wills by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand
& Seal the Twentieth Day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and seventy.

his last Will & Testament, in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed
our names as Witnesses, in the presence of the Testator and of each other.

last Will & Testament of John Wells deceased was duly sworn before me
