Jane was the daughter of Thomas Tooby and Elizabeth Benfield of Church Gresley, Derbyshire. Her uncle, Joseph Benfield, died just a month before Jane's marriage and she was one of the beneficiaries of his Will:
I Give and bequeath to my Niece Jane Twoby the sum of ten pounds and one fether bed Boulster and two
pillow two Blanckets and Coverlid with the Bedstids and Hangings altogeather.
Richard was the son of Richard Roulstone and Mary. In August 1760, when Richard was four years old, his brother Henry, two year old sister Elizabeth and mother were all buried within nine days of each other.
